The Student Evaluation Standards

The need for information and materials to guide teachers in their evaluations of students is well known.  For example numerous studies over the past 40 years have documented the need for additional training and support for teachers in their assessment of students.  Despite the identified needs, to date no comprehensive , widely accepted, guide for teachers' evaluation of students has been prepared.  In 1997, with support from the W. K. Kellogg Foundation, the Joint Committee began work to develop standards that can guide teachers and inform students, parents, and others, regarding the characteristics of sound student evaluations.  These pages both document the work of the Joint Committee and encourage involvement in this significant development effort.
